Assuming that humanism has already evolved and no longer supposes there is one way of being human, it is still not a good argument to downplay feminism. Humanism and feminism is not mutually-exclusive. In fact, a lot of -isms with the common interest of human rights can work well together. No one said you can only be one -ist. You can be a humanist-feminist-environmentalist (like myself) all at the same time. We should really just stop outlawing each other. Okay, so it might seem that it’s all just a matter of trivial semantics and labels. You can choose to fight for women’s rights without being identified as a [insert the F word here] if you think it’s too restrictive. I’m not forcing you to label yourself, just don’t attack those who are comfortable with being called a feminist. *gasp* Yes, there are some radical feminists out there just as there are in other groups. But please know and understand the essence of feminism before you challenge the idea and engage in discourse where you could potentially reinforce destructive stereotypes of feminism.
