Assuming that the newspaper reported the truth,i am surprised that the ksh 500 million home for the retired president home was built using taxpayers money. When so many kenyans are getting depression, ulcers and even some become psychotic coz they are unable to pay the mortgages,i am surprised someone who is already so wealthy can be given half a billion to construct a home for retirement.Though i am not an architect or a quantity surveyor, the little mathematics that i know will show me that ksh 700,000,000 is too much for an office.A very expensive home in Runda goes for around 120 million,so i just cant imagine how an office worth 700 million looks like.As much as we love our country too much, when serving in the government we get so irritated when we read this kind of stuff in the media.I can imagine a pharmacy collecting a revenue of 1 million per month, after the officers have upheld their integrity to the highest standards to raise the one million, only for the said officers to now learn via the media how the money is spent. If i am a police officer and my net pay is ksh 19,000/month,how will i refuse a bribe if i know the only way i can have a house is to take ksh 300,000 loan,my payslip will be less by 10,000 for 5 years. As i struggle with my remaining 9,000,i look at a newspaper headline(i cant afford the paper anyway)then see how a kenyan retiree has been allocated ksh 500 million for a home, what will prevent me from being corrupt?
