At 1:30 this afternoon, I almost had to say goodbye to my dad. His valve replacement surgery went well, and then he took a turn for the worse. His aorta ripped open and lost a huge amount of blood. CPR was administered and was without blood or oxygen for 2-3 minutes. It is unknown at this time if there are any side effects from this. He is temporarily on a respirator and a pacemaker is assisting his heart at this time. The doctor have placed him in an induced coma to keep his blood pressure from escalating and any undue pressure on the heart. The aorta has been repaired and hopefully it will hold. The doctors and nurses at Bryan Heart have done an amazing job at saving my dads life. He is far from out of the woods and your continued prayers would be graciously appreciated.
