At 22 yrs old, I had to decide between going to work for our people or pursue a career as a professional pool player, I was on a solid path in developing my game and am still not allowed to play in less than open or pro tournaments in Alaska or Arizona. I realized quickly that even if I became the best pool player on the planet, it would not mean as much as trying to help bring more balance, equity, and well-being into the world. I made one mistake, which was to decide that if I could not be one of the best, I did not want to play at all. I was convinced by Marc Brown to start playing again for his team a few years ago, and now I will be playing for the first time ever in the singles Open Division National Pool Championships in Vegas, starting tomorrow :) I have no misconception about how I will do, as I have had almost no time to practice, but it is a little piece of a dream come true and I will have fun just being a part of it, no matter how I perform.
