“At Last They Meet” It is said we all have a road to travel upon, A path that is set just for us and no other to walk, On this path we shall be alone or walk with friends, Not to know its purpose until we find where that path ends. Where a path ends doesn’t mean your journey is done, It only means you get to pick a new one, You may stand at crossroads, not knowing which way to turn, You only know that an adventure awaits you, your mind eager to learn. With a deep breath and courage he did not feel, The Prince stepped toward the clearing, his fate he was ready to seal. As she looked up and saw him there, He felt the piercing pain of her stare. He was intruding on her domain, He knew that with a single breath she could cause him great pain, Still, he held his ground, standing tall, on the edge of her clearing, He chose to remain. “Who are you?” she asked. “Why have you come?” Her voice was like liquid silver, With every word she spoke his body would shiver. She was beautiful and mystical, in ways words could not describe, He was frozen in her gaze lost in her eyes. Again she spoke, breaking the stare, “I’ll ask you again your name, although for your purpose I really do not care.” The Prince spoke, though his voice was shaking, “I am Prince Thomas, descendent of King Lionel.” “I am of the fourth generation, destined to live without love, Destined to die for love if it be true.” “You dare enter here, your kind comes to my door?” she asked her voice barely above a whisper, cut him like broken glass. “Your kind is a line of fools, with gold is where your heart’s desire lies, “With power over people and greed, it is the green that colors your eyes.” “What does one of your blood know? You have never loved true.” She said with a smirk as she turned away. “Madam, please, hear me out, I need to tell you, I need you to see what has been hidden from you” Prince Thomas begged. As he knelt before her on bended leg. “I need you to know what happened to your love, the one you believe untrue. You need to see the curse your mother said, when her love lay before her dead.” The Prince implored the Fire Rose, to sit and listen to his tale, Of love and betrayal, of greed and hate, To hear about how her father had been kept from the city gate. He told her how long she had been held captive by the darkness, The shadow that controlled her fate, The devil whom took her mother’s soul, And left his line in the darkest state. He told her of the treasure that he kept, He told her of the timekeeper’s amulet. He told her all of what he knew, He told her everything he thought to be true. As he finished his tale, With all its hatred and betrayal, He looked in her eyes for a sign, But her gaze was lost and blind. So he sat back to give her space, While she was lost in memories, A journey back through the recesses of her mind, To another place and another time. To be Continued…… By Ena Roise
