At Mississippi Barbell we work with youth through Masters athletes. Last weekend two of our Masters competitors, Ellen Meeks (75) from Jackson and Kevin Kraemer (105+) from Gulfport, lifted at the Hatch Christmas Invitational. Ellen hit 43-47 snatch and 50-53-56 clean and jerk. She took first place in a session with younger athletes all while being under the weather. Ellen has grown leaps and bounds with us and we are proud of her progress on and off the platform. Kevin comes to us from a strongman background. He snatched 68-71-74 and clean and jerked 90. Kevin has had issues with his knees but this weekend he was able to bend them and drop under which we were happy about! He works extremely long hours at a VA hospital and still finds time to train when he can. These two athletes exemplify the meaning of working towards their goals. They never quit, they never complain, and they put the young guys to shame for it. Learn more about them and our program at msbarbell.
