At Robinwood Medical Center this evening, an SUV is parked with a labrador retriever inside. I dont know how long the vehicle had been there, I did feel the hood, and it was barely warm, telling me its been there long enough for the engine to almost completely cool. The windows were down enough for him to stick his nose out for fresh air, but I wasnt able to get him to do this. I have been around animals ALL my life, and looking at this dog, I KNEW he was very old.....white around his muzzle, cataracts, and badly stained, worn teeth. He was whining and crying, which turned into barking and much distress. I called the Wash. Co. Humane Society where I was instructed to go inside the Medical Center and let security know. I was told I could be transferred to a humane officer, but, they would just suggest I do the same thing. I went to Meritus and spoke with a security man, who just wanted my information so he could call the Humane Society. I explained to him I already did that, and what they told me. He said he needed to call them anyway. (This dog has been in the vehicle for AT LEAST 30 minutes at this point just that I know of!!) I asked, in the meantime, what about the dog?? He is clearly in distress, could he please help him? He will be dead by the time someone arrives. I was told no, we have to wait on the Humane Society. He informed me security could not enter the car....I then told him I could, and I would handle it myself. My question is.....the WCHS gets over a million dollars of taxpayer money a year......what are they doing for the animals???
