At WETA, we used to do a program on Friday nights called Metro Week in Review, and very much like Washington Week, the format was four reporters and a moderator sitting around a table talking about the stories that they were working on during the week. Several of the local reporters moved on to network jobs, based largely on their print reporting skills and on the TV experience that they received doing Metro Week. Jamie McIntyre is one case in point. When Jamie wanted to jump to network news, he came to me and asked me to edit together a reel of him doing his thing, so that he could use that reel to help him secure a job in front of the camera. I took a little time after work and edited his reel for him and sent him on his merry way. Soon after, Jamie was hired by CNN. Jamies initial Pentagon crash report varied greatly from the story that is stuck in many of our minds. He, of course, changed his tune for later reports. He aint no dummy.
