At a Grosse Pointe Park City Council meeting, officials shunned one resident’s request to ban the tabloid, insisting that constitutional freedom-of-speech guarantees would trigger a lawsuit if the city tried to ban a widely accepted publication. The Grosse Pointe Library Board, facing half a dozen critics of the tabloid, considered a ban, then voted 7-0 last week simply to stack the Metro Times out of sight.
