At a friend in Abbotskerswell in Devon. Walked out his house and could hear a distant repetitive call of a Raptor. At first I looked to the horizon but soon realised that it was high in the sky above. I looked up and was was surprised to see not one but three Sparrowhawks circling high in the sky above. The call that brought my awareness to their presence sounded like a juvenile begging call, one of the bird vocalizations that can be used to interpret bird language. Was a real treat to see three at the same time. They were not fighting in any way and with this and the juvenile call it seems that this was a family. Either both parents with a juvenile or one parent with a couple of juvenile. I will look into which is more likely and report my findings.
