At a meeting of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, members voted to hold elections for a new executive on Saturday, August 24. Nomination day is Saturday, August 19. Members also agreed to establish an interim management committee to prepare the association for elections in the intervening weeks. The committee comprises Sunity Maharaj, Faine Richards and Lasana Liburd with Kayode James in reserve. Over the next two weeks, the Interim team will engage the broad community of media practitioners as recognised by the MATT Constitution to ensure the widest possible participation in the election and encourage executive service to MATT. The Interim Management Committee is urging the media community to support the upcoming elections by being active participants in the process.
