At a public meeting last night where the Festival Wing - TopicsExpress

At a public meeting last night where the Festival Wing refurbishment project was discussed, Mike McCart, Southbank Centre’s director of partnership and policy, talked about the need for a ‘demountable’ ceiling at the proposed site of the skate space under Hungerford Bridge. This suspended ceiling would protect the space and its users from rain and bird faeces. It would be constructed in such a way as to allow Network Rail to carry out its annual inspection of the bridge and would only be ‘demounted’ when major works are undertaken to the bridge. This is an engineering requirement and would not affect the permanent nature of the skate space.
