At approx. 11:35 hrs on 11-22-14 units from the NAFD responded to the 600 blk. of Maple Ln on a reported structure fire. First arriving units found a working fire in the rear of the residence which involved a wooden fence and wooden storage building. The fire was quickly contained and brought under control within 4 minutes of the first units arrival. Companies responding to this incident was Engines 1,3,4 Truck 1 and Battalion Chief 32. This fire served as a reminder that according to National Fire Protection Association statics there are more cooking fires around the Thanksgiving holiday than any other time of the year. This fire was caused by hot embers leaving a smoker while the homeowner was preparing a thanksgiving turkey.
