At it’s next meeting on Wednesday, January 7th, at 5:30 pm, in the Board Room (18700 Ward St., Fountain Valley), the Orange County Water District Board will apparently consider purchasing water from the proposed Huntington Beach Poseidon desalination project, and also establishing something of a Citizens’ Advisory Committee (whose make-up and responsibilities are yet to be determined). As you know, this desal project is working its way for approval through the California Coastal Commission. On the OCWD’s website (see, ocwd/BoardAgendas/BoardAgendas.aspx) there is a tab called “Transparency,” under which there is a link for “Agendas.” Click on it, and you’ll get absolutely nothing about this meeting just days away. Why? Why can’t we know what they plan to discuss? (I get the Brown Act notice requirements, but why do the citizens have to wait until the last second of the 72-hour notice requirement? Why does the OCWD have to wait until 5:29 pm, Sunday to post the Agenda for the Wednesday night meeting?) Why? Do any of the OCWD’s Board members see something of hypocrisy in its claim of “transparency”? (Example, the Huntington Beach CC posts its Monday night Agendas the previous Wednesdays.) Why, OCWD Board members?
