At our Racial Justice Leadership Meeting on Monday night discussing our progress on Prop 47 (San Diego is leading the state with our prop 47 implementation). To date, our public defenders office have filed 12,000 petitions to reclassify the felonies of previous non-violent offenders to misdemeanors. 700 of the petitions have already been granted and an additional 1,500 petitions were filed this week. As of December 31, nearly 1,000 prisoners have been released throughout the state as a result of Prop 47. Were prepping for meetings with San Diegos criminal justice offices, working with churches & SDs immigrant communities and discussing dominate narratives. Good work family!
