At some point during our existence, each and every one of us - TopicsExpress

At some point during our existence, each and every one of us ponders over this question, ‘what is it all about, what is the purpose of the human race?’ Some feel they are here to serve a purpose; some serve humanity by aiding the well-being of others, whether that is physically, emotionally or spiritually and some do it extremely well and are rewarded with emotional fulfilment. Yet most of us just serve a corporation for the purpose of gaining as many pieces of paper as we can. Whether we like it or not, money is what motivates us to get up on a morning and return to the same job day after day. We exchange these pieces of paper for ‘things’ hoping that these ‘things’ will bring us eventual, emotional fulfilment. But we all know that our ultimate goal is to earn enough money to afford a life that is free from drudgery, monotony and worry and it is for these reasons that neither guilt nor shame should ever be attached to wanting more money. It is common knowledge that possessing vast amounts of money brings freedom – without true freedom, we cannot thrive. Freedom: 1.The power to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. 2. Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government. Thought always precedes action or speech. ‘First comes a thought; then organisation of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.’– Napoleon Hill, 1833 – 1970 What if thought generated a desire to express yourself through composition of music, yet you had neither the time to compose nor money to buy the musical instruments needed to practice your masterpiece? What if Pachelbel, the great German baroque composer, was born into a life of severe poverty and had to spend his days toiling for another instead of composing? What if all he earned was enough just to shelter, feed and clothe himself, leaving nothing spare to buy the musical instruments he needed to create his beautiful masterpiece; Cannon in D – which I must declare, is profoundly in tune with my heart. ‘A person’s right to life means his right to have the free and unrestricted use of all things which may be necessary to his fullest, mental, spiritual and physical unfolding – in other words, his right to be rich.’– Wallace Wattles – 1860 - 1911 It may well be a fact that we all have the power to think but how many of us really have the freedom to act upon what we think or speak of what we think? The writings of Mr Wattles and Mr Hill taught me that not only do we all have the power to think, act and speak, but we also possess the freedom to do so, despite being subjected to structures of control. It is these two men that I would like to thank for showing me that there is a way to manifest all that we desire – without hindrance and restraint.
