At the Fogg Library by Janet P. Levasseur The following poem was inspired by Janets visit to Fogg Library on its first day open on April 28th. She has generously allowed us to share it with you. Quietly I sit in a comfy chair Deep in thought in this nice cozy nook, I’ve come prepared with everything I need— Lexicon, pens, and a large notebook. The town’s Gran’dame dressed in Weymouth granite Reborn this day in our early spring Began with the will left by John S. Fogg For us, this generous offering. The old Fogg Library seems happy now She’s one hundred seventeen years old— Admiring glances and fine compliments Warm stately rooms that too long were cold. If these paneled walls, shelves, and floors could speak, Would they give up their secrets of old? Or wisely keep their counsel buried deep In hushed silence, never to be told?
