At the GVCC-BBC championship race a couple weeks ago, Cyclewerx of Rochester generously held a drawing to give one of our riders a free Retul bike fit. I wanted to send a thankful shout-out to Steve DAmico for handing off to me his free bike fit and to Steve Stanziano for the first-class service I received. After getting repeatedly ragged on by my riding buddies for my awful pedal stroke, it turned out that by simply by shortening the stem, lowering the seat, adjusting the cleats, and pushing the seat back noticeably increased my ability to lay down power for the same amount of perceived effort and at the same time look somewhat less Fred-like. The 3-D Retul method can even detect lateral movement in the knees. A proper fit is a good investment even if it only saves your joints a few years down the road, but it may also be an inexpensive way to tap power you didnt even know you had. If you havent had a fit, please look Cyclewerx up. You wont regret it. Since I didnt want to leave their store without giving Cyclewerx some money, plus the fact that I need to attribute my power output to something blingy, I picked up some cockpit upgrades from them too (pictured below). I won two free cleat fitting gift certificates at the championship race. If anyones interested in using one of them, please post a comment below letting me know or send me a PM.
