At the Island Art Association in Fernandina Beach, we have a monthly Photography Group meeting. Free & Open to the public on the 4th Thursday every month. Usually have a informative slide show of interesting subjects and a photo critique. The below info is for our upcoming meeting. FIRST PHOTOGROUP MEETING OF 2015 WHERE: Island Art Association Education Building (18 N. 2ND Street) WHEN: Jan 22nd – 7pm – 8:30 Folks, this is an important meeting. We’ll be discussing: Potential future outings: Lighthouse Goats (Don’t say “Baaaa”!) Horses (Don’t say “NAAA”)! Alligator Farm (snap them before they snap you!) Church Windows (bring your Windex) and Graveyards (Don’t get locked in like I did). A PHOTO GROUP Website with Galleries for YOUR photos A PHOTOGROUP FACE-BOOK PAGE – with YOUR photos The Nights PROGRAM: I’ll be continuing my series entitled: “THE WINNING PHOTO. To remind you, this is an interactive commentary (no holds barred and everyone gets to provide tips or comments or ask questions). CHALLENGE: Knight Shots: (You’re right! You don’t have to look for a hero with a lance and a horse. You have to send Scott Moore ( Scottmoorephotography@yahoo ) your jpg of the kind of shot that starts with an N and not a K. But we have to keep you on your toes, don’t we?) You must send your Night Shot entry to Scott by January 20th (Tues). OUR AMELIA ISLAND DVD: Dawna Moore is finishing up the IMAGES OF AMELIA which we’ve prepared as a “gift” to benefit The Island Art Association which, of course, hosts our meetings. All the sales proceeds go to the IAA. Dawna will be giving us a progress report. ISLAND ART ASSOCIATION: Speaking of our host, The Island Art Association, your Steering Committee (Scott and Dawna Moore, Pat Hooks, Walter Petersen, and myself) suggest that each of us join the Association (It’s only $25 for an Associate Membership until June!). This allows you to participate in the Nouveau Art contests at a discount – and have the public view (and even BUY) your work in the prestigious Island Art Association’s gallery. More importantly, it is yet another way for us to say THANKS to the Association for allowing our group to hold Photo Group meetings at no charge to our members. SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW! Have some camera or other used photo equipment to sell? You can drop me an e-mail ([email protected]) and we’ll post the information you send – free of charge – in our next newsletter. In fact to start the ball rolling, I have a like-new Nikon D 300s – with an 18-200 lens – AND an MB battery Pack (for better power and handling) – complete with carrying case - for $500! Call me at 904 491 0474. And for the budget minded, I also have a Nikon 5000 – for only $100 – also like new! WILD AMELIA PHOTO CLASSES: Mark your calendar for March 6, 7, and 8. Those are the dates of the 2015 Wild Amelia Photography Festival. These days will be packed with terrific classes and workshops on photography taught by members of our own Photo Group: Mark Treen, Maria Struss, Scott Moore, Dawna Moore, Rick Scott, and myself. The classes will range from beginning to advanced - are very inexpensive - and are loaded with information and practical tips. Check out the Wild Amelia website at wildamelia/photo.htm for more info. Come join us on January 22nd and exchange ideas and deepen friendship. It’s a great way to start the new year! And bring a friend! Oh yes. Let’s all go for a drink/dinner after the meeting!
