At the MAC counter wondering why all their associates look like their wearing masks. The rumblings of a future blog post and book overcoming the beauty battle .... Let me light this fire now. I have oft struggled with outer beauty. No lie. The mental script goes sthg like boy, this bare skin kinda rough looking, better wear that make up. Or ever hear a dude praise the outward appeal of a woman? Its crazy bc they could be as close to Jesus as bosom-buddy John and at the end of the day, one of their biggest desires is natural glowing outward beauty. No make up. Just perfect. And so, it goes in my head and many a female - to be godly is great, but to be good-looking is better. Run that by me one mo time.... Yea, I said it. We all know it. And function at this level. I cant stand it. I cant tell you how much it hurts when I come to church sans make up and someone asks are you ok? Tired? Or sthg real spiritually slick like May The Lord give you rest. Omgeeslouise!? Making women go straight from the pew to beauty counters. Look here, I need you to graduate in your thoughts about outward beauty. Would to God that we would get a revelation of true beauty. Serious face. Some people need a self-disclosure memo from heaven about how off their ideas of beauty are. Some folk are still looking for certain complexion of skin, certain length of nose, a certain circumference of waist, a certain distance btwn eyebrows or texture of hair, BMI, abs. Omg. Man. This stuff is so in us. My generation. Even now, lord Jesus come.
