At the age of 46 I often mind myself right in the middle of Generational Conflict in the church. I see where the younger folks are coming from. I see where the older folks are coming from. But now I have an issue Id like to get your feedback on. For the younger generation of boys and men hats and ball caps are essentially part of the uniform, the style, an accessory. From the rolled bill to the flat bill, dirty and nasty with a fish hook (which I have never understood). The not so long ago cheesy mesh back is now trendy (I think). I feel like for most boys the cap/hat is just part of the outfit. Now for the older generation wearing a hat/cap indoors or at the dinner table comes with a whole range of ramifications including: lack of respect and simply not being raised right. Needless to say for them it is a huge issue. So, when you see a young man walk into a church building with a cap on, how do you react? Do you even notice? The Bible does address men praying with their head uncovered however, it just happens to be in the same context as women praying with their head covered, which most of us have determined is a cultural issue. I have noticed more and more boys at ballgames leave their caps on during the Natonal Anthem, and honestly I hate it! So what do you think?
