At the edge of the glade, running gently under the shadey branches of the trees, flows the stream...allowing the breeze to chill itself in the hot sunny afternoon...the insects merrily dipping in and drinking.. then going back to attack the human picnickers frolicking on the glade. After a feast of sandwiches and cake, followed by a glass of ice cold cordial, the children wander down to the stream, looking for life forms that dwell in the water, and often under the rocks... or the occasional piece of water-logged tree branch, long dropped in...without getting wet themselves....
