At the fair tonight a couple of people ask me about the cost of NARCAN. The dispensing system & the drug is less than $25 per dose. That is pretty reasonable to save a life. There were also questions about how we administer it. It is a nasal spray, it doesnt take much training to be able to administer it. NARCAN also will NOT HELP or HURT a person it is used on if they are not suffering an opioid overdose. So, even if we misdiagnose someone, NO harm will be done. Our first priority is to save a life. Less than $25 helps us achieve that with minimal to no risk. As soon as EMS arrives, deputies turn treatment over to EMS members. I hope that answers everyones questions. I appreciate the fact that people feel I am approachable & know they can ask questions. The fair is going great, I hope everyone gets an opportunity to enjoy it.
