At the risk of annoying people with blog type communication, today - TopicsExpress

At the risk of annoying people with blog type communication, today I am unpacking my books which is very exciting. I missed them and I keep having to touch and rub my hands over them. The first box I opened contained a book called Used and Rare which is very timely. Of all the boxes (there are many) I opened this one today with no knowledge of its contents by Title. It is a book about book collecting and I remember enjoying it. Tonight is Book Club, I have re-joined the book club a girlfriend and I started around 18 years ago and they have continued monthly since way back then. They have kindly offered to take me be back. I am being picked up tonight by Felicity who originally owned this book. There is a point to this story. Used and Rare was in book club a few years ago and it had a challenging life. First it was dropped in the bath by Deidre, dried out and put back in to the pile. I then took it home and whilst it was a little challenging to read because of its now warped hard cover and wrinkly pages I managed. Unfortunately our little treasure Zak (miniature schnauzer-now deceased) took a liking to it too and chewed its corner and ripped its cover off before I got a chance to return it to the pile. I now have a very very sad looking book in my collection which is kept because it brings a laugh to us all when we reflect on its life. A new copy was secured for Felicity after some effort with Airline Pilot Husbands (a few in our club) hunting it down on trips to the States. The finding of this book is timely because 1) its Book Club tonight and it is Felicity who is picking me up and 2) I am taking a book along that I really enjoyed this month called TOLKEINS GOWN its of similar type...the collecting of rare books. Now I am going to take both along and we will no doubt all have another laugh as its some years (11) since they last saw this book and the older you get the more fun the memory. It also reminds me of Zak. I miss him. I recommend reading Tolkeins Gown. Its easy and informative and fascinating.
