At this moment, exactly one year ago, I was in Cairo. I was drinking a beer after one of the most nerve-racking moments of my life. Earlier in the day I had been attacked by mob of protesters in Tahrir Square and had detained by the Egyptian military. Even after that experience, I was still hopeful for Egypt, a country that had shown me nothing but live fire months. But one year later, having been in and out of the country 5 times, my heart is full of sadness. There is, however, two sides to every coin. I do have faith that the days of the oppressive regimes of the world are limited. Citizens are to be feared, not governments. Lets see what the future holds, but I, for one, stand on the side of freedom.
