At this time, it is important to use our minds and not be blinded - TopicsExpress

At this time, it is important to use our minds and not be blinded by our hearts and eyes. Our justice system is imperfect. We, as people, are also imperfect. Lest we forget the names and the tragedies that have befallen us in our present and in our past, especially those of color. There are no words that can describe the emotions flowing through the veins of the oppressed. Be mindful of ignorance. There are too many people who are afraid to broaden their perspective, and as a result, their actions too become racist and prejudice. To forgive and to forget would be to completely erase what those before us have been fighting for. Be mindful of emotion. From the outside, it may seem that all black people are sensitive, emotional and angry in regarding any topic that involves race, and/or the judicial system. Thus, even when we are simply fighting for only a portion of the same privileges as others have, our actions are generalized to be over the top. Injustice happens to everyone, regardless of race and class. I would be speaking out of my place to say I know what it means to be a white person. But it seems that some have that view of its not just black people that are oppressed, we are all people it doesnt have to be about race why do black people always make it about race etc. Injustice is happens to everyone, regardless of race or class. But it does not happen to others to the scale that people of color are affected. To make this an easier example to understand, look at a newscasting metaphor. To be on tv as a news reporter, you pretty much have to be good-looking or have facial features that are appealing to the public. Thus if you do not have these traits (aka ugly, you are already at an disadvantage, regardless of how great of a speaker or reporter you really are. And every time you apply for a newscasting job, you get the same look from each interviewer, knowing that he is judging you because of how you look. The same idea applies to race, except you cant change your color. There is plastic surgery and other options for those whom want to be beautified, but once you are black, you are black. You are stuck with your color for the rest of your life, that look you get from the interviewer will never change. Its these subtleties that us colored people fight against everyday, which may be difficult for others to grasp. Use your brain, not every cop is bad and not every black person is treated unfairly, even though many are. Continue to open your ears and open your eyes, but dont take everything someone says at face value. Do your own research, so you are not blindsided.
