At this time of year, I feel many emotions. Being a teacher, I feel relief that the school year has ended and my stress decreases but then I also feel sadness that many if my students move on to another class. This can be particularly difficult when you teacher special education and often have students for multiple years. Today, the mother of a little girl I have had for the last two years came in to give handwritten cards to myself and my three amazing paraprofessionals. As she handed out the cards we were all crying and as she comes to me she said the most touching thing. She said that as she say down to write my card, she didnt know where to begin...that all the emotions started coming out and it reminded her of the scene in The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy says goodbye to her friends and hugs the Scarecrow and says, I think Ill miss you most of all... These are the beautiful moments that makes the stress and craziness all with while!
