`At times I just sit back and let people reveal themselves, am not one to be trying to fit in any so called clicks haha am not all hipster out nor an anarchist nor all about the non-profit organization competing with another non-profit for funding. Am just me, I grew up in a border town and like many border towns I experience racism first hand. I had seen how the school systems discredited my people’s way of life and to discredit our history with their so call western linear time line history. This made me sad, angry frustrated to see my people being condition to try to fit in this western society. I am neither an activist nor an environmentalist; am I just a human being… The way I saw the Idle No More movement, was a movement all about empowerment of the self, to become your own independent movement. It wasn’t about how hipster / anarchist out I was or what non-profit I belong to just to fit into these clicks. It was about breaking free from these parameters that oppress one’s mind body and spirit!! Idle No More was for the common person to make I stand for one ’s self, it was about decentralizing these click scene. I was once over heard in a grassroots meeting someone mentioning to really connect the Idle No More movement with what was happening here as well as what was going on with our relatives up north in Canada! But I was saddened that this idea was cut down because Idle No More was a Canadian thing which was just a trend that was just going to go away. I thought to myself “that’s a perfect example of colonized thinking… why do we always to work within the boundaries of these imaginary borders?”. I once overheard one of my elders say ‘we always talk about colonized as well as decolonized, what about free colonized??”. Haha I could be really right wing or really left wing with ALL OF THE “ISMS” in-between, it doesn’t matter for me because no matter what, my people are the ones that are going to suffer in the short as well as long run. Navajo Nation will never change, it’s a government system designed not for the Dine’ but rather just a few privileged NAVAJOs who are so compelled “ In the name of progress” to provide energy to the whole southwestern United States for free at the expense of destroying our whole eco-system. In America we can be anything we want to be but ~INDIGENOUS~ that is the reality of the American dream… I’ve been trying to put together a farming project for my community, the idea is to just provide food to my family as well as my clan relatives who live near where I live and try to inspire my them to be a part of the circle once again! A family that prays together stay together! ~ This is my main focus, all I can say to the my relatives and allies that supported the efforts; I just would like to thank you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say and thank you for all the wonderful times we shared our songs as well as our prayers, when we stood in solidarity. And to the others that doubted me or the one that are all haha “somehow” towards me, maybe because of my dark skin. it’s all good, because we are all fighting for the same fight supposedly, but what do I know?? Am just a sheep herder that doesn’t know how to herd the sheep! Lol all I can say is that I love my family, I love my people, I love my allies and I love my land. May we have a future that goes beyond the word future with the protection of the prayer’s of our ancestors from the cosmos!~ May the four colors of life, which represents the four mountains, directions , the four stages of thinking, the sun , the moon, grandma water and grandpa fire guide us to overcome our everyday endeavors. I say all of these in the name of my grandmas, mothers, aunties, sisters, daughters and granddaughter may we walk in beauty, may we walk in beauty, may we walk in beauty, may we walk in beauty… ~IDLE NO MORE~
