At yesterdays meeting, Jennifer brought up that the Student Senate Diversity Committee wants to gather information about the general climate of minority students on campus. They want to know if students of minority feel accommodated and comfortable on campus, from the school and their peers. This is a space to come out with experiences or difficulties that you have always wanted to voice. This is entirely anonymous. They only want the data that comes from APACs responses. Particularly we want comments from men of color. We want to start further research about how to create a comfortable atmosphere on campus for people of color. The information will gauge how we will proceed with this information. Bonus Question: What format of discussion is most conducive for an open and truthful discussion? For example: one on one (with a professor or a student), focus groups, writing it down, etc. Please send your responses to Jennifer Kaku at [email protected] by Tuesday!
