Atheism - the official religion of attacking Christianity. Also known as - the crossfit of religions. While it is possible to be an atheist, much like a true health and fitness enthusiast, without shoving it down every bodies throats, its exceedingly rare. The entire point is to make personal decisions based on facts and evidence, and to allow others to do the same. But its much more common to be a gigantic douche about it, and criticize anyone who disagrees with you. And just for the record, because 99% of the general public seems to have no idea what they are talking about, Ill clear a few things up for the less educated. Separation of church and state is meant to prevent the church, as a physical entity, from running the government. To ensure that America doesnt become a Theocracy. Much in the same way the separation of powers, and the checks and balances of the branches of government, are designed to prevent America from becoming a Monarchy. It has nothing to do with keeping religious beliefs out of our government, or out of our laws. In fact, our entire moral structure is based on an openly Christian set of values. Our founding fathers not only advocated for, but participated in such practices as leading prayers in schools. Freedom of religion is designed to prevent laws being passed to limit or regulate the practicing of ones chosen religion. The current trend of using it to forbid certain public practices of religion, is a bastardization of the idea, and accomplishes exactly the opposite of what it was intended for in the first place. We are a republic, founded on the democratic ideal that the shared interest of the majority of our population should dictate the manner in which our country is operated. 83% of our population identifies as Christian. That makes us overwhelmingly a Christian nation. 13% identify as atheist, and therefore have no opinion on religious ideologies. All other religions combined only represent 4% of our citizens. That means that of our 316 million citizens, only 12 million would have any reasonable objection to any decisions based on religion. The VAST majority of which are also Abrianic religions themselves, which share the same basic belief structure in the first place. If we are truly a democratic society, then why are we catering to an infinitesimal amount of citizens, however vocal they may be? The concept of not making a democratic decision based on its ability to potentially offend a minute minority is laughable, and is shameful in itself. The open practice of ones personal beliefs in no way limits, or restricts another persons ability to choose or practice their own beliefs. Personally, I dont believe in the Easter Bunny, but if the art teacher in a public school wants to instruct my children to paint a picture of it, then I wont object.
