Atheists always focusing on the negative aspects of religion and living only in the material and are stuck on believing that past cultures were so inferior to our own... why did the elements of the Christ story keep repeating in some many different cultures, an astrotheologist would say they were all symbols pointing to the Sun, but was it only the Sun?? And Floods and heavy rains did happen at the end of the Ice Age, not to mention all kinds of past "historical" documents are filled with inconsistencies and falsities. Religion or no religion, man was going to have conflict, primates and early humans all had conflict with out having any religion. Science answers a lot of questions but runs into a lot of pitfalls and have inner disagreements as well, over the interpretation of sometimes the exact same data. Religion has been used to further the desires of strong men who wanted to maintain control over society, but that does not mean that that was its original intention, and who knows what the world will become totally devoid of religion... the starting point of the philosophy of life is did all this happen by accident and there is only the material or did this all happen by some kind of purpose and there is something else more to life than just the material? If it is accident, God, gods, myths and religion is at this point useless and everything is pretty much straightforward, but if all this happened on purpose, then there are a lot of difficult questions to be raised that may never be able to be answered completely by human intellect...
