Athlete had a labral tear in his right hip in 2001. He had surgery, but has had discomfort and compensation since. Hip flexion and/or external rotation caused a very uncomfortable clunk in the joint. Range of motion limited and/or painful in various lunges and squats. He had researched extensively for solutions for years and years, meeting with experts and doing a lot of massage and soft tissue work himself. Some mild relief here and there, but nothing significant or lasting. We did banded hip movements to distract the joint posteriorly and laterally, plus banded air squats to reinforce good movement patterns. Pain-free range of motion improved dramatically. He used the word magic at one point. Home run. Great way to end a work week.
