Attached is an updated video by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) capturing an impulsive M1.0 solar flare around sunspot 2035 at 19:59 UTC. The event was associated with a Type II radio emission with an estimated velocity of 1071 km/s. Impulsive flares do not generally produce large coronal mass ejections, however I will provide an update once coronagraph imagery becomes available. ALERT: Type II Radio Emission Begin Time: 2014 Apr 16 1958 UTC Estimated Velocity: 1071 km/s Description: Type II emissions occur in association with eruptions on the sun and typically indicate a coronal mass ejection is associated with a flare event.
