Attacks on temples conspiracy to usurp Sindh’s resources: QAT chief Dawn: LARKANA: Qaumi Awami Tahreek chairman Ayaz Latif Palijo has said that attacks on temples is a conspiracy to capture Sindh’s resources. After meeting with the office-bearers of District Hindu Panchayat (DHP) on Sunday, he told reporters at Dharamshala that Sindh contributed lion’s share in federal government’s revenue from its rich oil and gas resources, but the centre was reluctant to pay provinces their just rights. He said that such violence was aimed at igniting anarchy in Sindh that would turn into a civil war. Mr Palijo said it was not enough only to nominate the culprits involved in the incidents, they should be brought to justice and the government should take measures to stop such incidents in future. He said Sindh which was the land of Sufis where religious harmony prevailed, but the province was being infected with Central Asian and Gulf-tailored culture. But Sindhis would neither accept nor allow division on the basis of religion, he added. Referring to the Aug 11, 1974’s, speech of the Quaid-i-Azam, he said the constitution of Pakistan guaranteed the rights of not only Hindus, but also Christians, Sikhs, Ahmedis and other minorities. “We reject Taliban’s Shariah and support Muhammed’s (Peace Be Upon Him) Shariah,” he said. Asked how he saw the government-Taliban talks, Mr Palijo questioned why they (rulers) had restricted it to Taliban; why not opening dialogues with Balochs and certain people whom he called ‘angry’ groups in Sindh. He appealed to the central leaders of religious parties to meet the leaders of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Ahmedis for the cause of religious harmony in the country as a good will gesture . Criticising Hindu legislators, he advised them to shun the practice of becoming ‘front men’ of influential people to look after their business and running after licences for wine shops. In replying to a question, he said Sindh had failed to get its just right in the National Finance Commission award whereas the role of the Sindh Assembly was not commendable. Panchayat chairperson Ms Kalpna Devi , vice chairman Dr Dharampal, Anwar Soomro, Noor Ahmed Katyar and Sajjid Mahisar were present during the press conference. Ayaz Latif Palijo also went to Ratodero and offered condolence with Sannan Qureshi, chairman of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, over the tragic death of Maqsood Qureshi and Slaman Wadho.
