Attending h.s. football game last evening and realized an innocuous way kids learn bullying. Football dads in the stands yelling for our team to start hitting the other guys and a little four or five year old kid with glasses on (adorable) excitedly eating a Reeses Peanut butter cup stood up and yelled hit em, hit em without even knowing what was going on. This was met by cheers and laughter from the football dads (and moms) sitting among us. Of course that meant he became relentless in mimicking what he was hearing. Might seem benign today but little kids dont distinguish between activities, they just like the responses they get. Same goes for yelling at the refs. Parents of young children please note. Your kids live to get your attention, please make it positive and reinforce kindness regardless of where you are. End of rant, have a great weekend.
