Attending the Forest Service meetings regarding the Management - TopicsExpress

Attending the Forest Service meetings regarding the Management Areas. It is amazing to see the passion & the depth of knowledge from all the stake holders. There is a balance to managing the Forest for timber production, wildlife habitat, conservation, clean water, recreation, preserving cultural heritage & economic development of the region. Some are concerned that the management areas show way too much of the forest open to timber production. I would urge everyone that hold these Forests dear to voice what THEY think the desired conditions would be for these Forests. As equestrians, we want access to trail heads & to trails of varying length & difficulty. But we also want beauty on the trails that we access. Logging isnt often seen as beautiful, but if the harvest was done in a way that protected the clean water, enhanced the health of the forest & increases habitat for wildlife? It is our responsibility, as tax payers & people who hold the Forests in such high regard to understand the role of the Forest Service & to let them know what we value!
