Attention All OCR Members: Do not order your business cards from Vistaprint ... A few weeks ago, Mike Caron asked me to design an Our City Radio business card. I created a cool piece and decided to order them from Vistaprint (this was before Venom Press was announced). When you order through Vistaprint, once you set up your design, they give you a cool preview image called a "proof" (The 1st image below). This "proof" is very important, because they make you click a box saying that this "proof" is exactly what your design will look like. Well, I paid my $40 and 2 weeks later, they showed up. Much to my surprise, however, when I opened the box, they totally screwed them up, as you can see in the 2nd image. I called their customer service hotline today and got some interesting answers. I told them that my cards were misprinted and cut incorrectly and after arguing with the woman for a few minutes, she broke down and told me the truth; 1. Vistaprint business cards are not the standard business card size (3.5"x 2"), they are cut smaller on purpose. They are something like 3.425" x 1.76" 2. The "proof" you agree to is not actually a preview of what your design will look like, its just showing you the image you already uploaded. 3. The best part of this whole deal is image 3. See the dotted line that goes all the way around the card, about 1/4" around the border? When they go to print your card, they cut it anywhere in between that dotted line and the designs edge! So you spend hours perfecting the design, and they get to crop it however they want! At the end of the conversation, I got a refund and will be purchasing my business cards on Venom Press. Overall my Vistaprint experience was very deceptive and unprofessional. Take my advice and avoid Vistaprint!
