Join us for a Capacity Building Forum and Small Business Roundtable Discussion hosted by Congresswoman Corrine Brown, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Small Business and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). The event will focus on effective strategies to increase the number of minority-owned firms working on local, state, and federal contracts. Join us Friday, June 27, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Florida Department of Transportation Training Center, 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Refreshments will be served. The Goal of this event is to help ensure small businesses across the region are prepared for and have an equitable opportunity to participate in both U.S. Department of Transportation and local and state agency funded contracts. Florida’s $2.1 billion Interstate 4 (I-4) Corridor Ultimate Project presents an opportunity for economic empowerment for a large number of small businesses and will serve as a focal point of discussion along with topics such as best practices for contracting success, contracting and subcontracting qualifications, and anticipated procurements. Representatives from JTA and other local agencies will also provide information and answer questions concerning their small and Disadvantaged Business Programs, and local contracting opportunities.
