Attention Benton parents: There’s a new drug testing policy for 8th-12th graders involved in athletics, spirit groups and band in the Benton School District. The district will now use a certified drug testing facility, instead of the school nurse to conduct test. Also, there will be random drug tests conducted about eight times a year. In the past, all students in athletics, spirit groups and bands had to submit a drug test once a year, only at the beginning of the year. As a parent, are you welcoming this new policy? Is it too strict or too lenient? Why or why not?
