Attention Marines and Sailors! It is my sad duty to pass on news of the passing of a Sailor, and Beirut Brother. Taps have sounded for Bruce Richardson, who served aboard the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-4) in Beirut. Bruce was only recently diagnosed with stage-4 cancer. He fought bravely, but the disease was too advanced to be successfully treated. Retired from the US Navy, Bruce was a father, grandfather, and a good friend. He was able to attend the 31st anniversary Beirut memorial service just 2 weeks ago, which was very important to him. Rest well, thou good and honorable warrior. Thy duty has been well and faithfully discharged, and thy time on earth is through. Report now for duty with our brother warriors who have gone before you. Anchors aweigh my Brother, thy ship has now sailed. Rest in Peace. I offer my sincere condolences to your surviving friends and family. Their loss will be much to bear.
