Attention all 2005 Hyundai Elantra drivers! If snow is on the pavement then your car may be a virtual magnet for teenage driver, or may even be considered stealth-like. 1/25/14 Robert Merrill, driving his beloved Korean kid transporter is rear-ended (he he) by a 16 yr old while sitting at an intersection. With extensive bumper, trunk lid and quarter panel damage, luckily the Elantra was drivable from scene. 2/1/14 Robert Merrill, driving the dinged classic Asian 2K05 model (waiting to be restored to showroom glory) is hit head-on by a 16yr old driver while passing through an intersection. Air bag deployed. After gaining senses, loud expletives shouted while airbag fog cleared and figuring a way out of the wreckage. Per teenage driver I never saw you. Unfortunately....moment of silence...it doesnt look like the Elantra is going to see the 120K mile mark thanks to its popularity as a crash test vehicle over the past 7 days. The good news....I get to to feel like someone kicked the $hit out of me TWO weeks in a row without even leaving the comforts of my own car. The bad news....a new car payment for the Merrill family since insurance companies wont value a nine year old vehicle quite as much as yours truly.
