Attention, below is a private post that was sent to me. This post is an eye opener. This person has allowed me to repost this....I took out the names of the person that posted it. PLEASE lets not let this happen to us!!!!!! I owned a day spa/hair salon until I became very ill in 2008. I plan to open another one in the future so I try to keep up with this industry. Thank you for sharing this I am shocked that such legislation is pending in this business. I am not a licensed cosmetologist, never did nor would provide any service, but as an owner I made sure I knew every law and procedures that applied to the services provided in my salon plus I ensured that they were all strictly adhered to. I know what licensed beauty professionals can do and the illnesses that can be caused when they dont follow the procedures and laws, and sadly some of the licensed people could care less about such important matters. I shutter to think what will happen on so many levels if the stop requiring that the cosmetologists, estheticians, manicurists, massage therapists and others be fully educated and trained and licensed. The public needs to understand that there are serious chemicals being used for services that can harm, burn, infect and in some cases potentially cause cancer (formaldehyde), failure to use proper sterilization procedures on equipment and tools can cause serious infections with some being potentially fatal. Many of the spa pedicure chairs/tubs are not properly cleaned and disinfected between each client as is currently required and this can lead to very serious infections with some being potentially fatal. Removing licensing requirements must not be allowed to occur. Doing so will seriously endanger the health and quality of beauty services received. I live in southern California and this industry is monitored closely so I doubt that they would remove the license requirements. I will share your FB post and will be happy to sign any petition if available to keep the licensing requirements. If youd like, you can post my message.
