Attention, the Lillian Davis Foundation is looking for two dynamic persons to help plan and implement a 25-day summer program starting July 1 ending July 26. There are two positions to be filled: Summer Program Coordinator and Summer Program Volunteer. The coordinator will need to be on site Monday-Friday from 8:30a.m.-3:30p.m. ensuring thing are executed properly. Persons of interest for the position include: prospective teachers, retired teachers and administrators, persons working in the non profit sector and enthusiastic children lovers. Additionally, there is an immediate need for summer camp planning and a year round need for volunteers and financial support. For more information please contact Marion Robinson at 925-0266. A brief history: The Lillian Davis Foundation has been in existence since 2007, honoring the late Lillian Davis who was a community, civic, and educational activist in Indianapolis. The foundation does this through various after school programs and summer camps. These programs provide tutoring and lunch for Indianapolis Public School students. Her grandson Sterling “ Silver Dollar” Davis, who also suffers from heart disease, and her children, continue her legacy with the work of the foundation.
