Atypical Migraine today. In case anyone is interested, in what that means (tome anyway) read on. These are not your every day, head-splitting pain migraines. 1pm - Im in the car, my daughter in the backseat, on our way to go support some writing friends at a new reading event. About 2 minutes after getting on the freeway, shooting pain runs down my right arm. Tingles of oncoming numbness and stiffening muscles quickly follow. Not ideal when gripping a steering wheel. Then the symptoms moved to my face. Shooting pains in my brain, the tingling, the numbness, the feeling of the right side of my face drooping (though the mirror said there wasnt a lot of visible shift...this time). And of course, blips of foggy confusion, wreaking havoc with my concentration. By this time I knew I was in trouble and took the next exit off the freeway, just in time for the pains to begin their trip down my right leg. The usual numbness and tingle combo followed, making regulating pressure on the gas pedal a bit of a challenge. The good news is, we made it home in one piece. The bad news, I was a mental wreck from the stress of keeping it together long enough to get my sweet daughter safely home. My foot dragging a bit on the way in, I finally broke, collapsing into my bed, from where still reside, typing on my belly balanced laptop. I look physically fine, and am certainly in far better health than just a year and a half or so ago. But these things keep happening, and I keep missing events important to the friends and family I care about, doing far more damage to my spirit that anything else. So, for the future events I may have to miss, I apologize now. I hope you understand, and all I ask is a little forgiveness, and maybe a prayer or two. Anyway, tomorrow will be a better day. :)
