Auburn landed a commitment from one of Atlanta’s best linebackers on Sunday, and it may help the Tigers with one of the state’s top overall prospects in the future. Montavious Atkinson, a 3-star linebacker from Langston Hughes High School, committed to Auburn over Tennessee and N.C. State on Sunday. Atkinson’s teammate at Langston Hughes is D’Andre Walker, who is 4-star and rated at the state’s No. 13 overall prospect. Walker was considered a strong lean to UGA early in the recruiting process. Walker recently told 247sports that there’s a “95 percent chance” that he and Atkinson will play together on the same team in college. It’s another recruiting win in the state of Georgia for Auburn assistant Rodney Garner, the former UGA recruiting coordinator. He’s the area recruiter for Langston Hughes. At Auburn, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Atkinson is projected to play the “star,” which is a hybrid defensive position between linebacker and safety. THA TRUTH
