Auditions for Damn Yankees, Sketch Club Players November 4, 2014 - 2:40pm | by Anonymous Director/Choreographer Jason Mangano is looking for a very strong cast to assemble for this classic show. Auditions will be held on Sunday, December 7th. Callbacks if necessary will be held on Monday, December 8th. Rehearsals begin in January, show runs March 13-28. Breakdown: Lola: early 20s to early 30s. Strong alto with high belt. Mr Applegates right hand woman and top seductress. Is usually stone cold and brilliant at what she does, until Joe Hardy softens her heart. Should be a very strong dancer with a strong jazz/Fosse style technique and should be very comfortable in little clothing. Think Ann-Margaret. Mr Applegate: 30s and up. Baritone with high notes. Essentially, the devil. A conniving smooth talker with incredible comedic and physical timing. Should be able to move well. Think Paul Lynde as Uncle Arthur on Bewitched Joe Hardy: 18-late 20s. Strong Baritone/Tenor with incredible high notes. The innocent all American boy. Is the younger incarnation of Joe Boyd after he sells his soul. Should have an athletic build. Gloria Thorpe: Early 20s to mid 30s. Mezzo with strong belt. The spunky, tom boyish reporter. Always out for the latest scoop. Should be a very strong dancer. Strong comedic skills a plus. Meg Boyd: early 40s and up. Mezzo with strong higher notes. Joe Boyds wife who loses her husband for 6 months out of every year, the thinks hes run away. Should have a very warm presence. Van Buren: early 40s and up. Baritone. The gruff and blustery coach of the Washington Senators. About to give up hope until Joe Hardy comes along. Strong comedic timing a plus Joe Boyd: early 40s and up. Baritone with strong higher notes. The older, out of shape man who sells his soul to the devil so the Washington Senators can win. Sister: early 30s and up. Belting Mezzo. The scatterbrained and fan girling sister of Meg. Strong comedic timing a plus and should be a strong mover. Doris: early 30s and up. Soprano. Sisters partner in crime. Strong comedic timing a plus and should be a strong mover. Welch: early 40s and up. The owner of the Washington Senators. Very astute. The Washington Senators: 16 to early 30s. Looking for 10 guys to play the hapless ball team. All have names and are very individual roles. Should be strong triple threats with very strong harmonizing skills, 3 in particular will make up the heart quartet. Should have nice athletic builds. Dance skills a plus Ensemble Girls: 16 to early 30s. Looking for 4 girls who will make up the bulk of the ensemble. Should be very strong triple threats with great dance skills.
