Auditions for Greenbelt Arts Centers, Death by Design, will be held August 26 and 27 at the Greenbelt Arts Center, 123 Centerway, Greenbelt, MD, with possible callbacks on August 28. This is a very funny spoof on the mystery genre. We are casting 4 men and 4 women, ages 20-70. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Performances run November 7-23. All roles are open and unpaid. Characters: Bridgit – 40s to 60s The maid and amateur sleuth. Irish, impudent, crabby, warm-hearted. Jack – 20s to 40s The chauffeur. Cockney, charming, clever. Has a roving eye for the ladies. Edward Bennett – 40s to 60s The playwright. Urbane, vain. Has an outsized notion of his writing ability. Sorel Bennett – 40s to 60s The actress. Glamorous, daffy. Has an outsized notion of her acting ability. Walter Pearce – 40s to 60s The politician. Stiff, conservative, thoroughly dislikable. Eric – 20s to 40s The radical. Emphatic, fiery. Walter is the embodiment of everything he holds in contempt. Victoria Van Roth – 30s to 50s The Bohemian. Intense, artistic, and rather hypocritical. Alice – 20s to 40s The visitor. Sweet, shy, blind as a bat.
