Auditions for Shenandoah Dec. 13 & 14--Saturday at 10 a.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m. This is a poignant story about Charlie Anderson, a widower, who lives with his large family in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia during the American Civil War. Anderson does not wish to be involved in the war because he doesn’t consider it “his” war and tries to keep his family neutral as the Civil War rages around him. The family is inevitably swept up in the conflict. Their story is a heart-warming and heart-rending portrayal of the upheaval that left wounds on the land and its people for generations to come. The musical will be directed by Kevin Frakes and Jean Heil, who will need a cast of 30+: -6 sons, ages ranging from teens to early 30s -Union and Confederate soldiers -2 strong female leads, ages teens to 20s -A large ensemble as “townspeople” -Also needed are 2 young boys, ages approximately 12, one is African American. The role of Charlie Anderson has been cast, all other roles are available. Auditions will be held at The Showplace. Please prepare a Broadway musical song. Bring your own accompanist (piano will be available) or a CD. You may be asked to read from the script. Show dates are March 19-29, 2015. Rehearsals will begin in January.
