Aug. 20th - We all still have something to learn. No matter how long we have gone to school or how many degrees we have received we still have room to learn. We might be considered wise among men but the wisdom that comes from God goes far beyond the wisdom of the academic world we live in. Wisdom built upon the human intellect is not the apex or highest attainment of knowledge. Our accomplishment in the academic world does not mean we have arrived at the end of knowledge and learning. A true wise man will increase his knowledge. The greatest evidence of human wisdom is the acknowledgement that we dont know everything. We are not finished learning. In our natural accomplishments, we cannot be satisfied with climbing the ladder of success already thinking that we have arrived at the final segment and stage of life. A true wise man will acquire Gods wisdom so that he can learn more and develop wise counsel from others around him. Solomon desired to leave behind his proverbs and dark sayings for men to chase after their interpretations like a hidden treasure. Knowledge begins with fear and reverence for God. Fools despise wisdom and instruction. The fear of the Lord is where knowledge should begin. In our human tracking of our scholastic accomplishments, we think that knowledge is an end but Solomon teaches us that knowledge is the beginning. Knowing how to fear and reverence God is where knowledge begins. If we do not begin with fearing God then we have not begun the process of acquiring knowledge.
