August 1, 2013 4:30 p.m. Evacuation Order Downgraded in Douglas County The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has downgraded the evacuation order for residences on Mount Reuben Road, Reuben Road, and McCullough Creek Road. Residents along those road systems will be allowed back in their homes, but the road systems will be closed to public traffic. The evacuation level has been dropped from a Level 3 (Restricted Access) to a Level 2 (Modified Access – residents allowed to come and go, but must be prepared to evacuate at any time). National Guard will be at road blocks for traffic control. Fire equipment will be entering and leaving the area day and night and aviation activities will still be utilized to assist firefighters with suppression of the fire. Residents are asked to drive carefully and watch for extra traffic in the area. Smoke and small fires interior to the fire perimeter and along the fire perimeter will still be seen. Residents are asked to be watchful of hazards they might encounter, like loose soil, rolling rocks, and falling trees and limbs. The Glendale Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon Department of Forestry, and Oregon State Fire Marshal Office appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while fire suppression activities continue. The Josephine County evacuation order is still at a Level 3 (restricted access). If you have concerns related to the Douglas Complex, call (541) 832-0136 or (541) 832-0137.
